Daddie Marto’s Response to His Wife Koku Lwanga’s Accusations and What this means for The Contemporary Woman.

After his wife went on a social media spiral exposing him for physical, emotional and financial abuse, Kenyan actor and digital creator Martin Githinji alias Daddie Marto took to his Instagram page where he released his official statement regarding the matter.

Starting his statement, Marto made it extremely clear that he does not condone violence—which of course is debatable following the video evidence posted by Koku showing the visible knots on her back after his alleged beating.

First and foremost, I want to state unequivocally, I do not condone violence of any kind, physical, emotional, or psychological. I also unequivocally reject being the subject of false and harmful accusations.

Marto went even further to refer to Koku’s allegations as an online narrative that was significantly distorted and only had one-sided picture of events while omitting crucial context and the full truth to tarnish his name.

Marto then detailed that he was fully cooperating with legal authorities and had taken the necessary steps to protect himself and all the other parties involved.

I am cooperating fully with the appropriate legal channels and have sought legal redress to ensure my safety and the safety of all others affected. 

In a typical manipulative tactic—in my opinion—his statement went ahead to state that the said allegations by his wife not only affected his reputation but also risked harming their children, their families and the greater community. He also went ahead to seek patience and continued trust and patience from his colleagues and fans.

For the contemporary woman, Daddie Marto’s statement was a typical blueprint of what men will do to save face—Be SELFISH, DENY and MANIPULATE! Marto sternly denied beating his wife despite there being witnesses and video evidence. The introduction of the impact of her posts on their children, their families, and the wider community is also meant to manipulate her into feeling guilty for her actions and ultimately villainize her. This is all while portrayed a poised version of himself in privately dealing with the situation which is just him being selfish as the beneficiary of the entire scandal.

So, what can the contemporary woman learn from this statement?

Be selfish like Koku Lwanga was. Choose yourself, your feelings, your career, reputation, mental health, your general well-being. Provided you’re not doing anything illegal, ignore the impacts your actions pose to other people if its in your best interests do it.

The universe might surprise you and offer you immense support—just like Koku did.
