Yesterday, I asked around ten women from my contact list what they loved most about being a woman. When I asked this question, I expected a flood of positive feedback about the joys of being a woman, such as being able to dress up in adorable outfits, the soft aura that comes with being a woman, or simply anything about women thriving in their feminine energy.
If I’m being honest, I did get an epitome of this comment and I loved it.

What I found concerning is that she found the question hard to answer, and even when she was giving the best thing about being a woman, she had to mention the challenges that come with it and how being a woman requires resilience. What’s even worse is that the ending of this comment involved women offering services to others.
So, is being a woman all about being resilient and sacrificing yourself for the comfort of your loved ones?
While I did get such feedback, it was just one and did not even matter as it was overshadowed by the more eerie and unsettling responses, I got that got me wondering, “Do many women not enjoy not being women? Why can’t it be about enjoying being in your skin?
From this response, all the others left me gobsmacked. More than five women said,
“Nothing.”

One woman even went ahead to say that she did not love being a woman, and instead, she wanted to be a man. In an even more disturbing response, one lady said that were it not for her kids, she probably would have ended her life a long time ago.
I think we can all agree that these were very disturbing responses that painted a much deeper and heavier picture, and screamed. “HELP!” Because when I enquired why these ladies felt this way, they all had one common answer, “It’s honestly so hard being a woman, it’s a lot.”
Upon further probing and having deeper conversations with these women, they all shared one problem: finances. While these women are in different stages of life, some married, others single, and some single mothers, they all attributed their misery to a lack of enough finances. Some want money so they can start businesses and quit their miserable jobs, some need employment to get money, others need money so they can delegate some tasks and ease their burden at home among mothers, or even just be able to afford themselves and going out once in a while—it all came down to the lack of money and the tough economic times we are living in. Maybe under different circumstances, we would all be able to enjoy being the glorious beings that women are; until then, we listen and support each other where we are.
